Song of the Day: Big Yellow Taxi

Today’s song is Big Yellow Taxi by Counting Crows.

Pop-Rock.
Yeah, it’s a cover of the Joni Mitchell original. Up to you for which version you prefer.

While I enjoy the original, this one is a decent, more-contemporary version.
Granted it’s already over 18 years old, so, not exactly fresh.
This song features Vanessa Carlton for some reason, as to add to the nostalgia.

Listen, late last night, I heard the screen door slam.
And a big yellow taxi took my girl away.

It’s a softer song, with a melancholy tone that still works.

I’m a bit surprised how well it holds up.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if a new rendition didn’t come out soon by someone in the Pop genre.
