Song of the Day: Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)

Today’s song is Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by Eurythmics.

Classic synth-pop/new wave.
The sound is just so infectious. It works on so many levels.
The use of the drum-kit. The way Annie Lennox structured the vocals.
Yeah, it’s a popular track, but such a masterfully energetic one.

Some of them want to use you. Some of them want to get used by you.

That synth base line really elevates the vocals to another dimension.

Yeah, it’s repetitive. Does that make the song worse? Nope.
It’s sound design led to some incredible imitation and the overall progress of the genre.

Many would recognize this track from the only great scene from the mishandled X-Men: Apocalypse film.
