Song of the Day: Favorite Sound

Today’s song is Favorite Sound by Audien.

Some upbeat EDM.
Been a while since I featured something like this.
It’s a positive message (with an excellent hook that weaves itself beautifully against the lyrics).

Sydney Sierota of Echosmith (an alt-pop group) sings the lyrics on this one.
The song delves into the nature of anxious behavior and the desire for self-improvement.
I like the sentiment on display here. Emotional, but not overblown.

When it all dies down it gets so loud.
All the voices in my head just try to fill me up with doubt.

The melody bubbles against the chorus and naturally breaks out into it’s own reactive outbursts.

There is a nice dichotomy.
Some songs feel like two separate ideas that refuse to mesh (due to fear of loosing meaning).
This song serves as a solid balance. A give and take/ ‘call and response’ method.
It plays to it’s benefit (and ultimately allows the meaning of the lyrics to resonate)
