Song of the Day: Nightmare

Today’s song is Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold.

Heavy Metal/Hard Rock.
Might not be the best track if you’re prone to delusional thinking.
Could cause some anxiety (even though those licks and the drumming is righteous).

Contemporary tracks can be difficult for old metal-heads to get into (as most popular tracks incorporate more rock).
It’s a preference. There are plenty of other artists to fill whatever sub-sect you’re looking for.
You can’t kill the metal. The metal will live on.

No one to call, everybody to fear.
Your tragic fate is lookin’ so clear, yeah.

That chorus works well with the melody. An interesting harmony with grim lyrics.

My favorite element of this song is the pacing of the drums.
Mike Portnoy drummed on this album (after the death of Jimmy Sullivan).
The album is dedicated to his memory.
