Song of the Day: Bat Out of Hell

Today’s song is Bat Out of Hell by Meat Loaf.

Progressive Rock/Metal.
You know exactly what you’re getting right off the bat.

Jim Steinman’s songs are wonderful, and paired with Meat Loaf’s vocals, yeah, it’s a blast to jam to.
The whole tone of this track (and the album) changes when you learn it was initially written about Peter Pan.

Oh, baby you’re the only thing in this whole world that’s pure and good and right.

Yeah. It’s long. Not every journey only takes a few minutes. Ride with it.

Seriously, that opening piano is nuts. The first two minutes is a powerhouse of instrumentation.
All of it creates a visual landscape so clearly in your mind.

Futuristic motorcycle rider; the motorcycle has jet exhaust. A bat-like figure on the tower of a building.
