Song of the Day: Levitating

Today’s song is Levitating by Dua Lipa.

Pop Funk.
Screw it. Yeah, this one is popular (and overplayed at every Goodwill radio), but I dig the energetic sound.
There is a copyright controversy with it (interesting if you’re into that sort of thing).
Regardless, there are worse songs that could get as big as this.

I believe that you’re for me, I feel it in our energy
I see us written in the stars.

This isn’t the type of track that you can loop endlessly,  but you can’t deny that baseline is excellent.

The warbled backing really adds a lot (and the lyrics, while repetitive, work well).
The layering on the vocals is pretty cool when you listen closely.
I shouldn’t have to defend why I picked something this ‘goofy’ and popular. I think it’ll age weird.
