Song of the Day: The Saltwater Room

Today’s song is The Saltwater Room by Owl City.

Electronica/synth-pop.
It’s cute. That may be the most apt description.
Something about it’s sound gives me ‘MySpace’ vibes.
Makes sense for it’s 2008-feel (and because Young was actually popular on that site).

A pleasant composition with catchy set of melodies.
It’s a sweet duet between Adam Young and Breanne Dürenberger (with deeper vocals than it should have).

What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
We need time. Only time.

The soft acoustic guitar is calming. Only out-of-place element is the drumbeat.

This was his first album (and it shows in a few areas).
His largest album came after this (and he’ll never live down Fireflies).
Still, I enjoy his aesthetic. It makes for a solid mood every once and a while.
