Song of the Day: Cliffs of Dover

Today’s song is Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson.

Instrumental rock.
Possibly my favorite from the genre (except maybe some stuff by Buckethead).

A beautiful composition with a lovely set of melodies.
Fun ad-libbed guitar solos for the intro/closing.
Really showcase Johnson’s skills.
For whatever reason, it took him over half a decade to put it on an album.

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba da da.

Such a masterful hook. It’s the type of wailing that just strikes you emotionally.

There isn’t much else that I have to say about it.
Wicked pacing (even with the improvisation).
The drums are far smoother when isolated.
Just a wonderful song.
