Song of the Day: The Devil Went Down to Georgia

Today’s song is The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels Band.

County. Uptempo bluegrass.
May be from one of my least favorite genres, but this song is spectacular.

I love the pace of this one. It has a great story and two distinct instrumental bridges.

Chicken in a bread pan pickin’ out dough. Granny, does your dog bite? No, child, no.

The song recounts the ‘deal with the devil trope’ with a ton of violins (otherwise known as a fiddle).

A case of a song where the lyrics are spoken more than sung. An interesting one at that.
