Song of the Day: Potential Breakup Song

Today’s song is Potential Breakup Song by Aly & AJ.

Synth-pop.
Nostalgia is a hell of a thing. This thing is so dated that it’s funny, but I still enjoy it.

This group is interesting. Most from my generation know this duo from their Disney Channel days (yeah, I know).
At the end of 2020, the sisters released an explicit version (and really revamps the sound for contemporary ears).
I recommend the newer one (as long as you can deal with some language), as the sound is left much sharper.

This is the potential makeup song. Please, just admit you’re wrong.
Which will it be?

Regardless of their background, you can’t deny their sound was strong for the time they released this.

I dig the goofy vocal effects. The backing synth. All the layered effects.
The guitar builds nicely, those drums are solid and the harmony of the two singing works well.
It’s nice to see that you can clearly chart the growth of their music, looking back.
Not many artists grow into their sound like they have.
