Song of the Day: Waiting for Tonight

Today’s song is Waiting for Tonight by Jennifer Lopez.

Dance Pop.
Turns out, this is a cover. The original was created by a group called 3rd Party (a few years earlier).
Obviously, Lopez has the superior version. It’s Latin-house. It could never compete.

Ain’t it good to be on your own?
Ain’t it fun you can’t count on no one?

Yes, this is fairly generic for the era, but damn if there is a ton of soul placed into the backing elements.
It’s just so well produced. A great tempo, solid vocals and a ton of great synth.

This was one of my favorite tracks as a kid. It was one of the few House songs that my parents enjoyed, so it fueled my love of the sound.

Balancing everything together, this track still holds up over 20 years later.
