Song of the Day: Little Dark Age

Today’s song is Little Dark Age by MGMT.

Synth-pop / Gothic rock.
Yes, this is a bit darker than my usual tracklist.
It was a surprise to me as well, as I always considered MGMT to be a bit more ‘energetic’.
That is still on display here (even if the subject matter is a bit more grim).

Oh oh, forgiving who you are, for what you stand to gain.
Just know that if you hide, it doesn’t go away.

It might take a few listens, but the structure of this one stands out. The ‘eclectic’ measures are all distinct and add a ton of character to the track.

Pay attention to how this song is produced (like when the drums jump back in at the end). There is so much care placed that it cements itself as something special.
You can really get a sense of their progression from their earlier work. It all blends well here.
