Song of the Day: My Own Worst Enemy

Today’s song is My Own Worst Enemy by Lit.

Pop-Punk.
This track feels both like its from the late 90’s and the early 2000’s.
I suppose that comes with the territory of releasing at the curb of the millennium.
It hits more punk tones than pop, but it’s a bit softer than most punk material from that age. Doesn’t make it bad, just more accessible.

It’s no surprise to me, I am my own worst enemy.

Post-grunge was an odd time. Fascinating to go through when you have the time for analysis of the sound.

The guitar hook sticks out as a clearly-defining point. Over time, I’ve paid more attention to they feed into the steady drums.
Ultimately, I find this song to be a bit of an interesting specimen from a bygone era.
