Song of the Day: What’s Love Got to Do with It

Today’s song is What’s Love Got to Do with It by Tina Turner.

There is a quaint synth element that really serves as a nice balance from Turner’s vocals.
It works as a nice throwback, but the sound still works nearly 40 years later. It’s cool to see it still has legs.

It may seem to you that I’m acting confused when you’re close to me.

Turner really belts it when the emphasis needs to be placed.

This feels like a quick song.
Notice how the tone of the track shifts in the back half.
It goes from a soft, introspective query into a direct exclamation, and the song becomes brighter.
I’m partial to the opening, as it gives off an air of mystique.
