Song of the Day: Creep

Today’s song is Creep by Radiohead.

Alt-Rock/Grunge.
My parent’s always dug this song. Happy that they had a penchant for Grunge (especially given the hatred of it by some parents at the time).
There was a melancholic angst to the entire era that really helped to expose me to some great music.
This track in particular was an excellent bridge to that kind of sound.

I want you to notice when I’m not around.

This one is an obsessive ballad. A bit neurotic, without being too on the nose. That guitar (and a bit of sharp noise) keeps it all in check.

You’ll notice the rock-solid pace that follows the progression. I’m a fan of the control on display, especially once it goes harder (after the build).

I think the thing about this song in particular is that it is Radiohead’s most-known track, but they HATE playing it.
Honestly, the issue with certain artists creating something ‘larger than them’ then being expected to perform it endlessly is quite heartbreaking.
Yeah, it’s a great track, but their other work is cool too.
