Song of the Day: Tainted Love

Today’s song is Tainted Love by Soft Cell.

New wave/Synth-Pop.
This is actually a cover of a song from 1964 (by Gloria Jones).
Really throws you for a loop knowing that a song was NOT the original. The original has better vocals, but the theming of the Soft Cell rendition is so good.

I’ve got to get away from the pain you drive into the heart of me.

The aesthetic is fun. Particularly enjoy the clashing and the synth melody in the background.

This is a quick song. It says what it needs to and strikes an excellent tone.
Songs about love and heartbreak are as common as they come, but this track in particular holds an interesting sub-section.
It’s use of synth and focus on the instrumentation leaves it with a lasting impact.
